Magnolia slips past Harrison Central 2-1 in girls soccer
Huskies’ Morgan Stock nets lone goal as Lillianne Smith tallies 12 saves in loss.
The Harrison Central girls soccer team faced the Blue Eagles of Magnolia Sept. 11, at Magnolia. Magnolia entered the game with a 2-6-1 record, while the Huskies stood at 1-6. The matchup last year ended with the Huskies walking away with an 8-0 victory.
Morgan Stock scored a goal in the first half; however, that would be the only goal of the game for the Huskies. Magnolia and Harrison headed to the break tied 1-1.
The Huskies’ Lillianne Smith had 12 saves. That, along with a strong Husky defense, kept Magnolia mostly in check, allowing only one goal in the second half.
Final score: Magnolia 2, Harrison Central 1.
Current stat leaders for the Huskies are Morgan Stock with five goals, Emma Patterson and Morgan Stock with two assists each, and Lillianne Smith with 126 saves.
The Huskies competed in three contests this week, playing at home Tuesday against Sandy Valley and again at home Thursday against the Brooke Bruins. Saturday’s game will be at Philo.
