Huskies sit eighth in early OVAC Class IV-A volleyball standings
Harrison Central holds 2-4 record as Bellaire, Oak Glen and St. Clairsville set pace in division race
As of Wednesday, Sept. 3, the Harrison Central varsity volleyball team sits in eighth place out of 12 schools in the OVAC Class IV-A Division. The Huskies carry a 2-4 record with a game average of 16.67.
Bellaire leads Division IV-A with a 4-4 record and a 62.00 average. Oak Glen follows in second at 7-1 with a 60.00 average. Undefeated St. Clairsville (7-0) holds third place with a 52.86 average. East Liverpool is fourth at 4-1 with a 48.80 average, and unbeaten Linsly rounds out the top five at 5-0 with a 47.20 average.
In sixth place, Union Local sits at 3-2 with a 34.40 average. Cambridge (4-3) is seventh at 31.43, just ahead of Harrison. Indian Creek is ninth with a 1-3 record and 15.00 average, followed by Weir High in 10th at 1-2 with a 13.33 average. Edison Local (1-5) is 11th at 6.67, and Buckeye Local holds the final spot with an average of 0.00.
With some teams having played as few as four matches while others are already at seven, plenty of movement is expected in both records and averages as the season continues. Programs like Bellaire, Oak Glen, St. Clairsville, East Liverpool and Linsly are positioned to maintain their high rankings, but for the rest of Class IV-A, the future is in their hands. There is still plenty of season left to climb the standings.
