Hopedale Township Fire Department secures $16K grant for new gear
Energy Transfer’s First Responder Fund helps purchase turnout gear and rescue equipment to improve firefighter safety.
The Hopedale Township Fire Department has accepted a $16,193.09 grant from Energy Transfer’s First Responder Fund, which helped the department purchase turnout gear and rescue equipment.
Energy Transfer is one of the largest and most diversified energy logistics companies in the country, with more than 2,300 miles of pipeline infrastructure in Ohio.
“This grant from Energy Transfer enabled us to replace worn-out fire gear, which is a safety hazard for our members,” Hopedale Fire Chief Mark Marchetta said. “This new gear, in addition to much-needed rescue equipment, will help us properly outfit our members and help our ability to safely respond to emergencies in our community.”
The grant was used to purchase five sets of turnout gear. The multi-layered coats and pants are designed for structural firefighting.
“Supporting first responders in the communities where we operate is a critical priority for Energy Transfer, and we know that the equipment they need to do their job is only getting more expensive,” said Chris Koop, manager of public affairs for Energy Transfer. “We are proud to provide grants through our First Responder Fund, in addition to partnering on trainings and other safety initiatives.”
The Energy Transfer First Responder Fund provides grants to support the missions of fire departments, emergency medical services, county emergency management agencies, police departments and other eligible first responder organizations. Grants are awarded through a competitive application and review process, and written applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
