Harrison Central High School soccer teams were well represented at the East District Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association’s Senior Showcase, held Saturday, Nov. 8, at Dover’s Crater Stadium. The East Team roster featured 28 players, including several Lady Huskies and Huskies standouts.

Representing the Lady Huskies were Emma Patterson, a four-year letter winner who played midfield and defense, and Grace Miller, a three-year letter winner at midfield. The Lady Huskies also earned the Division IV Sportsmanship Award, an honor voted on by coaches across the division.

Coach Mindy Madzia praised her team’s accomplishments. “As far as honors are concerned, Grace got first team, East District, Emma got second team. We have an honorable mention, Teagan Parks. We also have academic team honors — the whole team. Senior Excellence awards went to Miller, Patterson and Hayden Bittenger,” Madzia said.

Grace Miller will next represent Harrison Central in the OVAC All-Star Game at Red Devil Stadium in St. Clairsville Sunday, Nov. 16.

For the boys’ team, Hunter Fulton and Brady McAfee took the field for the Huskies. McAfee, a two-year letter winner and goalkeeper, recorded 130 saves during the season. Fulton, a three-year letter winner at midfield, was also selected to play in the upcoming OVAC All-Star Game at Red Devil Stadium.

Prior to the showcase, four senior members of the Harrison Central soccer team organized an indoor soccer tournament at the Stephenson Center in Cadiz in memory of their late teammate, Zane Carson (#19). The seniors — Fulton, Jake Evans, Ben Giffin and Gage Dombroski — along with Coach Derek Gramling, raised $500 for the Zane Carson Scholarship Fund.
