The Harrison Central cross-country team is looking to build on the strength, experience and talent of its returning upperclassmen and letter winners as the 2025 season gets underway.
Returning letter winners include Bryce Sobleski, Aubrie Moss, Mercedez Cooper and Lillian Renner. Seniors on this year's squad are Cooper, Sophie Bland and Renner.
“I'm really excited about this season,” Head Coach Doug Drapp said. “All of these athletes have been showing up for practice and putting in hours of honest, hard efforts. With that being said, I am expecting a wide range of performances — from finishing in the top 25, which at most races means medals, to seeing many personal records.”
Drapp also noted the addition of middle school runners Knox Krupinski and Kodence Ortiz. “The two young athletes have also been working extra hard,” he said.
Looking back, Moss has competed since seventh grade, Sobleski has run since seventh grade, Renner joined the team in ninth grade, Bland began in her junior year and Cooper competed in her eighth-, 11th- and 12th-grade seasons. New to the team this year is Michael Abel.
The Huskies open the season with a night race in Painesville, a large meet that draws more than 3,000 registered runners. “Personally, I believe that is a great way to kick off the season as we evaluate our runners,” Drapp said.
“I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of the Harrison Central athletes good luck during this fall season,” he said.
