Harrison Central bowling teams open season against St. Clairsville
Husky girls notch opening win as boys team shows early promise with strong individual scores in season debut
The Harrison Central Husky bowling teams opened their season Nov. 25, hosting the St. Clairsville Red Devils at JR Lanes in New Athens.
The Husky girls team faced St. Clairsville with confidence and leaned on its experienced letter winners to defeat the Devils 1,680–1,546.
Returning letter winners and high-game scorers were Jaylie Byers with games of 188 and 156, Tayla Thompson with a 166 and Kimmy Eikleberry with a 153.
St. Clairsville does not have a girls junior varsity team this year.
The Husky boys, meanwhile, were unable to secure the win, falling 2,079–1,887. Coach Jim Runevitch said earlier he expected some “bumps” at the start of the season with a young, inexperienced boys team.
High-game scorers for the Huskies were Wyatt Durbin with games of 222 and 194, Aiden Pettit with 175 and 167 and Owen Whitacre with a 151.
For the Harrison Central junior varsity boys, Hunter Patterson rolled a 164 and Colston Kirkpatrick added a 148.
Harrison Central faced Beaver Local Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Valley Lanes in Jewett.
