A Look at the Past

The village of Flushing was laid out Nov. 9, 1813, by Jesse Foulke, who also named it. Foulke taught at the first school and kept the first store. The first church was built by Methodists in 1821 on Northwest Street; the cemetery remains there.

The village was incorporated Feb. 23, 1949, with a population of 312. The 2020 Census recorded 830 residents.
