Why should residents of Cadiz vote for you?
"First and foremost I am not a politician, just a concerned resident looking to make things better for everyone, I have been married 42 years, and have three grown children. When I turned 18, I joined the Navy and spent four years working in the machine shop aboard a ship. After my time was up I left at the rank of second class petty officer."
Share about your life experiences that qualify you to be on village council?
"I moved to Cadiz nearly four years ago and have spent the past three and a half years restoring the historic E.M. Long home. Once converted into a triplex, it is now a single-family residence. I am also active in the Uptown Cadiz community, where I help with the 50/50 drawing—though if you don’t win, please don’t hold that against me."
What issues facing Cadiz are you most concerned about?
"I am concerned with all the great plans we hear about that never happen, the grant money we receive isn’t spent fully on it’s intended project. the village was granted $217,647 for the Dunbar school to be torn down, and yet it still stands as of today. I would like to know where all the extra money is. It was also granted $187,784 towards demolition of the old Dollar General. As memory serves me correctly the bid was less than $30,000. I would like to see a lot more transparency from the village council so people know what’s going on, we should have more input I feel we only know what they want us to know. If you are not happy with the way thing are being done then maybe it’s time for some good new, fresh visions and fresh ideas, thing won’t change with the current members. I would also like to see the speeding cars in the village stopped."
What sets you apart from other candidates?
"What sets me apart from the current members, the will to see things through, I have no agenda and don’t owe any favors to any body and only want the best for the village, if some of the members aren’t replaced it will be a loosing battle and nothing will change, the vote i'm told is usually six to one against any good changes. This needs to stop."
What do you hope to accomplish if elected?
"When elected I will do my best to push for more transparency and accountability from the members of our council, I would also like to see more space for rent or lease, and not used as a tax write-off for the owners. I would like a new large mural painted on the wall where the old bank used to be, welcoming people to Cadiz. Thank you for your vote."
