Why should residents of Cadiz vote for you?
"I plan to bring transparency, accountability and promote the ideology of leading by example. As a council member your duty is to serve the residents of Cadiz. Transparency and accountability are two examples of what residents want in their elected officials. Communication is the cornerstone of all good relationships. Council members and residents should always have an open, equal, and productive line of communication. As a council member I will always be open to listening to the concerns of the residents. I would like to ask that when they bring issues forward, they also bring ideas for solutions."
Share about your life experiences that qualify you to be on village council?
"I have a bachelor’s degree in business administration and am the co-owner of Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home. Serving the public for over 25 years has given me the skillset to work with a diverse group of people and situations. I have served as the treasurer of various organizations in the county including Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce, Harrison County Jr. Livestock Sale Committee, and Cadiz Youth Baseball. My experience with auditing and applying policy to implement guidelines and protocols to achieve a specific outcome will be beneficial to Cadiz. Not only can this bring a checks and balance awareness to Cadiz it can assist in providing transparency for the residents."
What issues facing Cadiz are you most concerned about?
"The water treatment plant is a top issue of concern. Although this issue is currently a priority for council, there are still several questions that the residents of Cadiz need and should receive answers to that need to include plans for the water treatment plant, prevention, and back-up water sources. Unoccupied houses and businesses in the village are also an issue facing Cadiz. Residents who live beside houses that have been unoccupied and are dilapidating are a large concern, and one I plan to raise questions about and find answers if I am elected as a member of council."
What sets you apart from other candidates?
"My experience in finance, auditing and properly applying policy to achieve a specific outcome can help the village move forward. I am very family-oriented and would like to see more activities for families and youth not only in Cadiz but the county. We need to continue to work to bring new business and families to Cadiz."
What do you hope to accomplish if elected?
"If elected I would like to see a review of current ordinances and determine what needs to be revised and in turn the potential of what new ordinances would best serve the residents of Cadiz. I will collaborate with other elected officials to seek grants and other funding for improvement to the village. I plan to do a thorough review of the current process for zoning and building permits and propose any updates and revisions that will best serve all the residents of Cadiz."
