Dalcin Smith passed his barber boards and is now an officially licensed barber at McKee’s Mancave Barbershop.

“I’ve always cared a lot about my own hair,” he said. “When I realized sports weren’t going anywhere, I needed to find something else I liked, and this was it.”

Smith graduated from Coshocton High School and worked full-time while putting himself through barber school at Prince’s in Zanesville.

“I like doing all the new trendy stuff,” he said. “That’s my favorite, but I like it all and just making people feel good and look their best.”

McKee’s Mancave Barbershop is located at 22951 state Route 83 in Coshocton and is operated by Tyler McKee. In addition to Smith, the staff includes Camden Swigert.

“Camden and I went to high school together, and he was a big supporter of mine,” Smith said. “When I was in school and learning, he’d let me cut his hair.”

McKee is glad to have Smith join the team.

“I know how bad he wanted this,” McKee said. “He worked full-time while in barber school and sacrificed. I know he will continue to work hard and put in the time and effort on his craft. I also know he got a good education. Camden and I also went to Prince’s.”

Smith is available for walk-ins and is in the shop Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“I’m excited to be part of the community and contribute and help make it a better place,” Smith said.
