Safe Sitter course for teens in Zanesville
Genesis Women’s Services offers June classes on babysitting safety and skills
Genesis Women’s Services is offering a Safe Sitter babysitting course to help teens and preteens be safe, whether they are babysitting, caring for younger siblings or home alone. There are two classes to choose from: Monday, June 8 and Friday, June 19 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Genesis HealthPlex, Conference Room C, 2800 Maple Ave., Zanesville.
A team of Genesis registered nurses will lead an interactive class, teaching participants skills like first aid, safety, injury prevention, CPR (noncertified), and how to choose safe toys and games for kids. They'll also cover how to find and interview for babysitting jobs. The class includes hands-on activities, videos, demonstrations, role-playing and discussions. Participants will learn how to care for children from newborns to school-age kids.
The cost is $50, which includes a pizza lunch, two snacks, drinks and a babysitter's training handbook. Preregistration is required. To register, visit www.genesishcs.org and search Classes & Events.
