River View softball edges New Philadelphia
Lady Bears rally in fifth inning for 3-2 home victory after rain delay
River View varsity softball overcame an early deficit and a mid-game rain delay to pull out a 3-2 win over New Philadelphia at home on April 22.
The Quakers struck first, scoring two runs in their opening at-bat to take early control. The game was later interrupted by a rain delay, but the Lady Bears came out energized once play resumed.
River View delivered in the bottom of the fifth inning, stringing together a three-run rally to take the lead for good. Hallie Wallace and Kelsey McClellan each drove in key runs during the inning to spark the comeback.
Haylee Hall earned the win in the circle, going the distance while allowing seven hits and two walks. She struck out three in a steady performance.
Offensively, McClellan, Rylee Lechner, Shieann Waldren, Joann Thompson, and Regan Foster each contributed a single for the Lady Bears.
