River View Lady Bears win MVL Big School Division title with four-set victory over Sheridan

Team claims first MVL volleyball championship since rejoining league, led by standout performances from Smith, Balo and Olinger

The River View Lady Bears won the Muskingum Valley League Big School Division title.

The River View Lady Bears capped off a memorable Senior Night with a championship-worthy performance, defeating Sheridan in four sets to clinch the Muskingum Valley League Big School Division title.

The Lady Bears took the match by scores of 25-14, 25-22, 21-25 and 25-17 on their home court.

The victory marks River View’s first MVL volleyball championship since rejoining the league. The Lady Bears last captured an MVL title in 2002, and their most recent league championship came in 2013 when they won the ECOL crown.

Kelsie Smith led the charge with 43 assists, 21 digs and two aces. Haley Balo dominated at the net with 25 kills and three aces while Layla Olinger added 19 kills and 12 digs. Defensively, Lindyn Fry anchored the back row with 23 digs and two aces.
