River View golf teams take on courses

River View High School’s girls golf team played the back nine on Aug. 18 at Hickory Flats. Team scores were River View with 218, Newcomerstown with 260 and Meadowbrook with 214.

Kortnee Mickle recorded a 42 and was the match medalist. Other River View scores were Addyson Blair with 58, Shieann Waldren with 57, Madison Bell with 61 and Carlie Stottlemire with 65.

The varsity boys golf team placed 17th out of 21 teams with a team score of 329 at the Kent Miller Invitational.

Gavin Gress’ 71 tied him for second place and helped him earn a spot on the all-tournament team.

River View’s junior high golf team played Aug. 18 at Fire Ridge Golf Course. The young Black Bears won with a team score of 177.

At Vernon View Golf Course, they fell to Mount Vernon 168-184. The Black Bears' scores were Makayla Gress with 41, Deacon Davis with 46, Bronson Gress with 47 and Eli Dunfee with 50.

River View then took on Garaway and won 183-191. The Black Bears’ scores were Makayla Gress with 40, Bronson Gress with 45, Deacon Davis with 45, Eli Dunfee with 54, Owen Brown with 53 and Isabella Gress with 66.
