Pastor Eggan explores heaven at bereavement event
Central Christian Church hosts discussion on faith and perspective
Pastor Dan Eggan shared both Scripture and personal experiences that have shaped his understanding of heaven during April’s Half-Full Bereavement Fellowship gathering.
A longtime biology and science teacher, Eggan offered an illustration, inviting the group to consider how microbes might perceive their world. Using images, he described the limited perspective of microscopic organisms under a lens, wondering whether they might interpret what they see as a single enormous being or perhaps just a giant eye. In reality the microbe simply lacks the capacity to comprehend the broader human world surrounding it.
Eggan connected this idea to human understanding of heaven, saying the human perspective is likewise limited.
An extended discussion followed, filled with questions and reflections. The 14 participants expressed appreciation for the reassurance found in the promise of heaven and thanked Eggan for his message.
The gathering concluded with refreshments and continued conversation, allowing space for connection and shared stories.
The next meeting will be Thursday, May 28 at Central Christian Church.
