The holiday season will officially kick off in Coshocton with the Miracle on Main Parade Friday, Nov. 21 at 5:30 p.m.

Lineup for the parade will start at 4:30 p.m. at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds, and participants are asked to use the Eighth Street gate. The parade will travel north on Seventh Street and west on Main Street.

Registration will end Friday, Nov. 14 and is $10 per entry. Throwing candy from a float or vehicle is prohibited, but walkers may distribute candy to children at the curb. No live Santa or Mrs. Claus are permitted as they arrive at the end of the parade. Have a banner or sign identifying your organization and incorporate lights. All decorations must be completed ahead of the parade.

Information about getting involved with the parade can be found online at the Our Town Coshocton website at www.ourtowncoshocton.org/.

“Bring the kids to the parade. It is so magical for the little ones. These are memories they will have when they get older. It’s my job to help bring up the next generation with Main Street,” said Hailey Helter, executive director of Our Town Coshocton.

After the parade children can visit with Santa, a choir will sing in the gazebo on the courthouse lawn and the courthouse will be lit up for the season. Santa’s location will be announced prior to the parade.

Another way to support local this holiday season will be the Jingle Bell Shop Hop Saturday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“It’s really important to get people into supporting local, especially our downtown,” Helter said. “We want to get people in our local shops and restaurants.”
