Coshocton library announces 2026 book club selections

Monthly reads include mysteries, historical fiction, reader favorites and a holiday rom-com for the year ahead

Happy New Year from the Coshocton County District Library. If one of your resolutions is to try something new in 2026, the library’s book club is always welcoming new members. Bookmarked Book Club meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Coshocton Senior Center at 1 p.m. or at the Coshocton Main Library at 5:45 p.m. Registration is not required for the senior center but is required for the book club at the library.

Book club selections for this year include mysteries, historical fiction novels, a psychological suspense thriller, readers’ choice picks and a holiday romantic comedy to round out the year. Copies of each book club pick are available to borrow at the library one month prior to the meeting date.

—Jan. 27: "Mother-Daughter Murder Night” by Nina Simon. Think "Gilmore Girls" but with murder. A Reese’s book club pick, Reese Witherspoon notes, “I just loved how intriguing the mystery is but also the dynamics between a grandmother, a mother and a teenage daughter.”

—Feb. 24: Readers’ Choice. Read any book by an author featured in our virtual author talks. Check out upcoming author talks and the archive of past talks at www.libraryc.org/coshoctonlibrary.

—March 24: “The Frozen River” by Ariel Lawhon. This historical mystery is inspired by the life and diary of Marth Ballard, a renowned 18th-century midwife who defied the legal system and wrote herself into American history.

—April 28: “The Stolen Queen” by Fiona Davis. This newest novel from bestselling author Fiona Davis will transport you from New York City’s most glamorous party, the Met Gala, to the labyrinth streets of Cairo and back as two young women team up to search for a missing Egyptian artifact.

—May through August: There will be no meetings these months. Enjoy the summer break.

—Sept. 22: “The Therapist” by B.A. Paris. Appearances can be deceiving in this psychological suspense novel. A newly renovated home harbors dark secrets, driving obsessions to uncover devastating past events neighbors desperately conceal.

—Oct. 27: “The Queens of Crime” by Marie Benedict. The five greatest women crime writers of the Golden Age of Mystery have banded together to form a secret society with a single goal: to show they are no longer willing to be treated as second-class citizens by their male counterparts. Led by the formidable Dorothy L. Sayers, the group includes Agatha Christie, Ngaio Marsh, Margery Allingham and Baroness Emma Orczy. Their plan? Solve an actual murder.

—Nov. 24: Readers’ Choice. Read any book by an Ohio author or set in Ohio. Check out a list of suggestions at www.coshoctonlibrary.org/bookmarked.

—Dec. 15: “Wreck the Halls” by Tessa Bailey. Hilarity ensues in this holiday rom-com as the adult children of two former rock stars team up to convince their estranged mothers to play a Christmas Eve concert.
