The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office has taken measures to make sure there is a safe space in place for children and parents with shared custody or similar events.

Sheriff Chris Walters put signage in place for that at the sheriff's office, and it is under 24-hour surveillance.

Walters said custodial parents and/or children involved in shared parenting usually meet at a public place, and there was plenty of room to do that at the new sheriff’s office. Walters said many parents might feel more at ease now that there is a specified area to meet with their children, whether there is a rocky parental separation or not.

Walters said the four spaces will be outlined in bright orange or another distinguishing color so they are readily recognizable.
