Coshocton BPW making plans for fundraiser

On Saturday, Oct. 25, Coshocton Business and Professional Women will celebrate its 20th anniversary hosting the cake auction fundraiser.

Money from the cake auction goes back to the community in several ways. The most important way is the Joan McNeely Working Woman Scholarship. BPW donates to Dollars for Scholars, the Salvation Army Christmas Tree Project, yearly and monthly to the First Step Family Violence Center, and the CRMC School Backpack Project. It also has helped Job & Family Services on an as-needed basis and gives a scholarship to graduating seniors at the River View Nike Club.

BPW also has organized a Meet the Candidates Night with the Coshocton County Farm Bureau for more than 20 years.

Since women won the right to vote in 1920 and it is Coshocton BPW's 20th anniversary, members have planned some extra activities to keep voters occupied during the cake voting period from 2-4 p.m. A photo prop will represent a woman who marched for the right to vote in 1920. Attendees can get their picture taken, and cupcakes will be available to the first 36 viewers.

The mission of Coshocton Business and Professional Women is to empower all women through advocacy, education and information. Membership is open to women and men who support the legislation platform. For more information email Coshlbpw@gmail.com or call Tomma Bordenkircher at 740-622-0009.
