The Harrison Central boys and girls varsity track teams competed April 7 in the Purple Riders 2026 Track and Field Relays at Martins Ferry.
Seven teams took part in the meet, including Harrison Central, host Martins Ferry, Union Local, Wheeling Central, Caldwell and Buckeye Local. The Harrison Central boys team captured its third consecutive meet title.
Top performances for the Huskies boys included Jacob Quito, who won the 100-meter dash in 11.62 seconds; the 800-meter sprint relay team of Jaden Harris, Brady Hyre, Quito and Triston Cole, which placed first in 1:38.38; the 4x400 relay team of Cooper Thompson, Hunter Fulton, Parker McAfee and Harris, which also finished first; and Trenten Allison, who won the pole vault at 12 feet.
For the Harrison Central girls, Teagan Parks won the pole vault at 7-6.
In girls events, Harrison Central’s 4x800 relay did not finish. In the 100-meter hurdles, Parks was fourth in 20.32 and Alexia Morrow was fifth in 20.32. In the 100-meter dash, Lenna Scott placed fifth in 14.76 and Amelia Puskarich was 11th. Haley Kelley was listed as did not start in the 800-meter sprint, and Harrison Central did not field an entry in the 400-meter distance relay. In the 300-meter hurdles, Zoe Whipkey placed sixth in 1:08.54 and Aubrey Coffman did not start. The 4x400 relay team of Kamari West, Whipkey, Brittani Feezel and Coffman finished in 5:20.90.
In field events for the girls, Lillianne Smith was seventh in discus at 84-8, Aubree Hopkins ninth at 67-11 and Peyton Visser 10th at 63-5. In shot put, Visser was ninth at 25-1 and Smith 10th at 24-10. In long jump, Haylee Kelley jumped 11-8.75, West was seventh at 11-5.5 and Puskarich had no distance. In high jump, Whipkey, Feezel and Hannah Gardy had no height. In pole vault, Parks was first at 7-6, while Coffman and Miranda Eikleberry tied for third at 6-6.
For the boys, the 4x800 relay team of Bentley Slocum, Michael Abel, Michael Stock and Noah Thaxton placed fourth in 10:00.16. In the 100-meter hurdles, Chaz Culbertson was sixth in 29.24. Quito won the 100 in 11.62 and Fulton was eighth in 13.31. In the 1,600, Thaxton was fourth in 5:12.43 and Bryce Sobleski did not start. The 800-meter sprint relay team of Harris, Hyre, Quito and Cole won in 1:38.38. In the 300-meter hurdles, Waylon Hodkinson was sixth in 51.77 and Chad McAfee did not start. The 400-meter distance relay team of Abel, Hyre, Slocum and Thaxton was third in 12:31.14. The 4x400 relay team of Thompson, Fulton, McAfee and Harris won in 3:38.30.
In boys field events, Nathen Dulkoski was second in discus at 126-11, Dylan Walters seventh at 105-0 and Vitto Parziale eighth at 104-1. In shot put, Walters was second at 43-10, Parziale seventh at 33-0 and Dulkoski 10th at 34-5. In long jump, Brennan Engstrom was fourth at 17-11.25, Trey Householder 11th at 15-4.75 and Hodkinson 12th at 15-2.75. In high jump, Hyre was fifth at 5-6, Thaxton seventh at 5-2 and Cole had no height. In pole vault, Allison won at 12-0, Chase Byers was second at 11-6 and Jake Evans cleared 10-0.
“This was another win for the boys team,” Harrison Central boys coach Luke Turner said. “This win now has the boys at 3-0 for the season.”
The boys finished with 84 points, seven more than the runner-up. The girls placed fifth with 36.5 points.
