Eastern Ohio Grazing Council sets final 2025 pasture walk, workshop for Oct. 23 in Richmond

Cavanaugh farm to host 6 p.m. session on division fencing, watering facilities and drought lessons; dinner and recognition to follow, RSVP by Oct. 17

The Eastern Ohio Grazing Council will host a grazing workshop Thursday, Oct. 23, at 6 p.m. at the John and Cathy Cavanaugh farm, 1220 Kragel Road, Richmond.

The Eastern Ohio Grazing Council will conclude its 2025 Pasture Walk season with a grazing workshop Thursday, Oct. 23, at 6 p.m. at 1220 Kragel Road in Richmond. The evening will feature a short pasture walk at the farm of John and Cathy Cavanaugh, followed by dinner and recognition of the 2025 Pasture Walk hosts.

Workshop discussions will cover division fencing, watering facilities, and lessons learned from two years of drought.

The council typically holds pasture walks on the fourth Thursday of each month from April through October across Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison, Jefferson, Stark and Tuscarawas counties, and hosts winter grazing workshops in January, February and March. Anyone interested in soil and water conservation through growing and grazing forages is welcome.
