Carroll County Foundation awards grants to support students

Grants are awarded for educational, charitable, scientific, civic or artistic purposes

Without proper attire, many students skip class, avoid career training opportunities or face the stigma of poverty.

The Carroll County Foundation Board of Governors awarded several grants at its Nov. 13 quarterly meeting.

– Utica Shale Academy of Ohio received $2,000 for the school’s Holistic Student Success Program to purchase new clothing for Carroll County students who lack access to clean, appropriate clothing for school, training and work-based learning.

More than 90% of the school’s students live in poverty, and over 20% experience homelessness during the school year. Without proper attire, many students skip class, avoid career training opportunities or face the stigma of poverty. The project targets vulnerable students who have demonstrated the determination to stay in school but need additional support to succeed.

– The Village of Malvern received $2,190 to help replace two wooden picnic tables in Malvern Park with two metal-coated, ADA-compliant picnic tables.

– The Village of Sherrodsville received $5,000 to purchase a new pavilion for the Lions Club Ballfield Park. The pavilion will provide shade for park visitors and space for small family gatherings. The foundation noted it is proud to partner in the project.

In 2025, the Carroll County Foundation awarded more than $236,000 to charitable organizations, public entities, schools and churches. Grants are awarded for educational, charitable, scientific, civic or artistic purposes.

Donors may also recommend funding directly to organizations through Donor Advised Funds held within the foundation.

The next deadline to apply for a grant is Feb. 1, 2026. Applicants can visit www.ccfoh.org and select “Apply for a Grant” for the application, grant-making policies and discretionary funding guidelines.
