Carroll County Farm Bureau to host football tailgates supporting scholarships

Pre-game meals and Ag Olympics planned Sept. 19 in Carrollton and Sept. 26 in Sandy Valley, with proceeds funding local students’ agricultural education

The Carroll County Farm Bureau will host two upcoming “Tailgates to Touchdowns” events in support of its annual scholarship fund. The events will take place ahead of the Carrollton and Sandy Valley high school varsity football games, combining community fun with local agriculture awareness.

The first event is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 19, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Community Field in Carrollton, prior to the Carrollton Warriors’ game against Garfield. For $5, attendees can enjoy a meal featuring pulled pork, chips, string cheese, applesauce, a cookie and a drink.

As part of the evening’s activities, school clubs and organizations will participate in an Ag Olympics competition sponsored by Carrollton FFA beginning at 6:15 p.m. in front of the home stands. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

The second event will take place Friday, Sept. 26, at Sandy Valley High School, prior to the game against Indian Valley. The same meal will be served and activities will be coordinated by the Sandy Valley FFA, the Sandy Valley FFA Booster Club and other school organizations. This evening will also feature Military Appreciation Night honoring local service members and veterans.

All proceeds from both events will go directly to the Carroll County Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund, which supports the educational goals of students pursuing careers in agriculture and related fields. Community members and local businesses interested in sponsoring the events are encouraged to contact the Carroll County Farm Bureau office at 330-339-7211.
