Anonymous donation supports Southern Local students

Students helped prepare gifts, serving as holiday elves by wrapping and assembling the items for distribution

Southern Local students Sadie Plunkett, Paisley Tice, Eva Weston, Deegan Bach and Lydia Tsesmilles help wrap gifts purchased through an anonymous donation that provided clothing and shoe vouchers for 85 students in the district’s Giving Tree program.

The holiday season was brighter for 85 Southern Local School District students thanks to an anonymous $15,000 donation.

School nurse Heidi McIntosh used the donation to purchase new coats and personal items, along with $75 shoe vouchers to The Shoe Dept. at Summit Square in Calcutta. The items were distributed to elementary through high school students participating in the district’s annual Giving Tree program, which connects donors with children in need.

Students also helped prepare the gifts, serving as holiday elves by wrapping and assembling the items for distribution.
