Orrville Public Library announces September programs for all ages
The Orrville Public Library announced its schedule of programs for September.
Registration will begin Sept. 11 for the next Brick Builders series, which invites children in fourth grade through sixth grade to use the library’s LEGOs for themed building activities. The series will meet Thursdays, Sept. 25, Oct. 2 and Oct. 9 at 4 p.m. One registration covers the entire series, and sign-ups can be completed on the library’s website at www.orrville.lib.oh.us or by calling the children’s department at 330-683-1065.
Preschool Play Lab will take place Wednesday, Sept. 17 with hands-on activities at several stations designed for age 2-5 to enhance early literacy and brain development. Older and younger siblings are welcome to join the activities, which will run from 1:30-4:30 p.m. No registration is needed. For more information call the children’s department.
Youth Book Club will meet Thursday, Sept. 18 at 4 p.m. for students in fourth grade through sixth grade. This month’s selection is "The 1,000 Year Old Boy" by Ross Welford. Copies are available at the children’s desk. Registration is required and can be completed online or by calling the children’s department.
Adults also can join in with the September Book Club, which will discuss "James" by Percival Everett, a retelling of "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" from the perspective of the enslaved Jim. The discussion will take place Thursday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. No registration is necessary.
Teens and puzzle enthusiasts will have their chance to compete in the Teen Speed Puzzle Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 13, beginning at 11 a.m. Teams of two to four will race to complete an identical 500-piece puzzle donated by Ravensburger, with the first team to finish winning a prize. The event is limited to five teams, and registration is required. Individuals without a team may still register and will be matched with other participants. Registration is available through the library’s website calendar or by calling the information desk.
