June 11-13 will be a big weekend for the little village of Kidron during Kidron Days.

The weekend event will kick off with communitywide garage sales June 11-13, a benefit meal June 12, and a 1-mile run/walk and 5k and 10k run Saturday morning, June 13. Also, there will be a pickleball tournament Friday evening and Saturday morning.

“If they register, they are on the Google map online or the printed version," said Jacob Troyer, president of the Kidron Days Committee. "Lots of people come into town, and there is a lot of potential to get rid of a lot of items."

Those who would like to register their garage sale can call or text their name and address to 234-799-2137.

The benefit meal will take place at the Kidron Community Park, and funds raised will go to support two local families with their current needs — Lester and Barbara Yoder and Trent and Tiffany Steiner. Sausages, noodles, pie and ice cream will be on the menu.

The Kidron Days races include a 10k, 5k and 1-mile run/walk, with the 10k and 5k participants receiving race T-shirts, finisher’s medals, chip timing, postrace refreshments and a chance for awards.

On Saturday morning the running events will take place at the Sprunger Building, 13071 Emerson Road, on the Kidron Auction Grounds and will start and finish there.

Troyer, himself a runner, said the Saturday morning race is his favorite part of the weekend's activities.

“The garage sales, 5k run and benefit meal have gone well in the past," he said. "We hope to increase the number of runners this year."

Wildfox Cafe will be at the race for attendees' coffee needs, and there will be cash prizes for the top runners. Also, everyone who signs up for the races on Mid-Ohio Race Management will be entered in a drawing to win one of the two pairs of shoes — one pair for a male and one for a female — and one of the 12 strawberry pies — six pies for the ladies and six for the guys.

Last year they decided not to have the 10k race but got a lot of requests for it.

“So we brought it back,” Troyer said. “It will be an all-road route this year. We have gotten a lot of walkers and strollers, so we decided to do a road route for 2026.”

The 10k will start at 8 a.m., the 5k at 8:10 a.m. and the 1-mile family walk/run at 8:15 a.m.

On race day the doors will open at 6:30 a.m. Registration closes 15 minutes before the race's start time. The 10k and 5k race swag includes a race T-shirt, finisher’s medal, electronic chip timing, postrace refreshments and a chance for race awards. Each 1-mile race registration comes with a race T-shirt, electronic chip timing, postrace refreshments and a chance for race awards.

The top three male and female runners in the 10k and the 5k will receive $50 for first, $40 for second and $25 for third. The top male and female in the 1-mile run/walk will receive $20.

The cost to sign up until the day of the race is $50 for the 10k, $40 for the 5k and $25 for the 1-mile. However, all participants had to sign up prior to May 31 to guarantee their shirt size on race day.

Proceeds from the Kidron Days races will help fund Kidron’s sidewalk replacement project.

Proceeds from the race will benefit Kidron Council and sidewalk replacement in the village.

Kidron Days is a weekend event organized by Kidron Council and Kidron Merchants.

“We are always grateful for the people who have donated time and items for the benefit meal and the race,” said Tim Beachy, a member of the Kidron Days Committee.

Weaver Shoe Company, Gerber Lumber, Kidron Tree Service, Weaver Custom Exteriors, Coalway, Kidron Electric, Procon Exteriors, Home Appliance Co., Springhill Dimensions, Killbuck Savings Bank, K&M Builders, Gerber Feed, Yoder’s Oak & Cherry, Gionino’s Pizza, Capek Insurance, Fireplace Grove Design, and United Fencing are the 2026 event sponsors.

“I like the support Kidron Days gets from Kidron Merchants and the whole community," Beachy said. "We look forward to seeing all the people who come out and support the benefit meal, sign up for the garage sales and the participants in the race."

“We get to bring the community together during Kidron Days,” Troyer said.
