Zoar Village to host annual Homeschool Day

During Homeschool Day, students will learn how the Zoar Separatists prepared for spring through a variety of activities located throughout the village

Students will tour many preserved historic buildings, including the Blacksmith, the Dairy, the Greenhouse and the Laundry, to learn more about Zoar’s history.

Historic Zoar Village will host homeschooled students of all ages during its annual Homeschool Day Friday, April 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

During Homeschool Day, students will learn how the Zoar Separatists prepared for spring through a variety of activities located throughout the village, including a bread relay, butter churning, planting seeds, tinsmithing and German school lessons.

“We’re proud to give students an interactive, hands-on way to explore history and connect with the Zoar Separatists and the history that shaped our community,” said Tammi Shrum, site director of Historic Zoar Village.

Students also will tour many preserved historic buildings, including the Blacksmith, the Dairy and the Laundry, to learn more about Zoar’s history.

Tickets are $8 per student and $8 per adult. Admission is free for children 5 and younger. Admission also is free for one adult per group. Reservations are requested. Private homeschool tours are available by appointment only.
