A free Bike Rodeo event will be held Saturday, April 25, from 1-3 p.m. in the student parking lot of Strasburg-Franklin Schools, 140 N. Bodmer Ave., Strasburg. All youth in prekindergarten through fifth grade are invited to participate, and youth from areas surrounding Strasburg are welcome. Participating youth must bring their own bike and helmet. A parent or guardian must sign in their child or children to participate in the event.

Participants will learn about bicycle maintenance, proper helmet use and traffic rules. These safety stations will be supported by Ernie’s Bicycle Shop and Strasburg’s fire and police departments. Boy Scouts will provide skills stations including balance, steering, coasting, turning and braking. These skills will be practiced before their use in the timed “bike rodeo” course. Prizes will be awarded for the fastest riders in four age groups: prekindergarten, kindergarten and first grade, second and third grades, and fourth and fifth grades. Several door prizes will be drawn at the end.

Light refreshments and themed crafts will be available at no cost, and the Kona Ice food truck will be on-site for shaved ice treats at participants’ expense.

The event is hosted by Cub Scout Pack 72 and Boy Scout Troop 72 of Strasburg. Contact Michele Randolph at 330-340-1143 or StrasburgScouts@gmail.com with questions. The rain date is Saturday, May 2, from 1-3 p.m.
