This National Library Week, April 19-25, MCDL wants to help you “Find Your Joy” at the library. Libraries create indelible memories for patrons of all ages, but imagine the impact libraries have had on MCDL staff – they love libraries so much they’ve made a career of them.

All week on MCDL’s Instagram and Facebook platforms, staff will share their stories of what brings them joy about libraries. For some, it’s the people. For others, it’s creating a refuge for those who may feel lost. For others, it really is about the books. Hear the stories of your favorite library staff members all week and view them on YouTube at @MedinaCountyDistrictLibrary.

“Tuesday of NLW is National Library Workers Day, a day we celebrate the wonderful staff who make MCDL great,” said Suzie Muniak, deputy director. “Wednesday is National Outreach Services Day, which shines attention on the Bookmobile, home delivery and lobby stop libraries our Outreach Department brings to senior living locations across the county,” Muniak added.

Also during the week, miniature books featuring winning poetry entries from the Poetry Project will be available at all MCDL locations. MCDL collected entries in three age categories in February. Patrons are encouraged to take a few and share them with the world. There will also be National Library Week “Find Joy at Your Library” bookmarks at all locations for patrons to take home and enjoy.
