As state testing and parent-teacher conferences approach, the Joyce B. Ebner Tutoring Center at Medina High School is reminding students that free academic help is available for anyone looking to strengthen their skills or get ahead in class.
Founded in 1991 and renamed in 2000 to honor longtime Medina City Schools Foundation member Joyce B. Ebner, the center offers tutoring in all subjects to high school students seeking improvement — not just those struggling. Many students sign up early in the year to get a head start in challenging subjects.
The Tutoring Center helps students not only improve grades but also strengthen reading comprehension, develop better study skills and grasp key concepts.
The Math Lab, part of the tutoring program, provides one-on-one and small group assistance from math teachers covering everything from algebra to Advanced Placement calculus.
Students can apply with a simple one-page form available at the Medina High School Hub, the Medina City Schools Foundation website, or in Room 1300 next to the media center. Walk-ins are also welcome for those with questions.
The tutoring center is funded and supported by the Medina City Schools Foundation, which advocates for excellence in education through scholarships and classroom programming.
