OSU Extension to host ‘All About Fruit!’ webinar series

Online series starts Feb. 27, covering berries, grapes, and tree fruits for Ohio gardeners.

Ohio State University Extension will offer an online educational series titled “All About Fruit!” designed for home gardeners, homesteaders, commercial growers and fruit enthusiasts.

The free webinar series will cover the basics of establishing and maintaining productive, small-scale fruit plantings, including berries, grapes and tree fruits. Sessions will include practical tips and tricks from current producers to help improve efficiency and success, even for those with limited space.

The series begins Feb. 27 with a focus on berry growing. Blueberries will be covered at 10:30 a.m., followed by brambles at 12:30 p.m. and grapes at 2 p.m.

A second session, “Pruning and Training Trees,” will be held March 3, featuring apples at 12:30 p.m. and peaches at 2 p.m.

Each session will last one hour and will be recorded and shared with registered participants. Registration is required, but the webinars are free to attend. Participants may register at go.osu.edu/allaboutfruit.

The program is hosted by Pressley Buurma, agricultural and natural resources educator with OSU Extension Seneca County. Presenters include Gary Gao, professor and small fruit specialist with OSU South Centers, and Ryan Slaughter, agricultural and natural resources educator with OSU Extension Ross County.
