Medina hosts 16th annual show choir event
Fourteen choirs compete Feb. 14 at Medina High School for a day of performances and awards.
Medina High School will host the 16th annual Medina Midwest Showcase on Saturday, Feb. 14, welcoming 14 high school and middle school show choirs for a full-day competition featuring song-and-dance performances.
Choirs will present 20-minute shows for a panel of expert judges and an audience of fans and supporters. Participating groups include Ada High School Varsity Singers; Alliance Aviatrix; Alliance High School Jetsetters; Euclid High School Varsity Chorale; Findlay High School First Edition; Garfield Heights High School Music Express; Lebanon High School Lebanon Singers; Martinsburg South Middle School South Spirit; Mayfield High School Limited Edition; Mentor High School Top 25; RB Chambering Middle School RBC Singers; Solon High School Music In Motion; Twinsburg High School Great Expectations; and Twinsburg High School Blue Harmony.
The preliminary competition will begin at 9 a.m., followed by an awards ceremony at 5 p.m. The top six scoring choirs will advance to the finals, which begin at 7 p.m. The evening will conclude with a performance by Encore Entertainment Company at 10 p.m.
All competition events are open to the public. General admission tickets are $20 and will be available at the door or online at medinachoir.com. Discounted tickets for K-12 students are available online.
The show choir competition will take place on the Medina Performing Arts Center main stage, with a soloist competition held throughout the day on the middle stage. Concessions and meals will be available in the Medina High School cafeteria.
Parking is available in the Medina Performing Arts Center lots at 851 Weymouth Road in Medina.
