West Holmes BOE holds June meeting
The West Holmes Local Schools Board of Education met Monday, June 16 at West Holmes High School for a regular meeting.
The board did several things during the meeting:
—Approved accepting a foreign exchange student from Germany through the Forte International Exchange Association for the 2025-26 school year.
—Pursuant to a resolution passed on Sept. 18, 2023, and the confirmation that three students attended St. Mary’s School for the entirety of the 2024-25 school year, approved payment in lieu of transportation in the amount of $1,100 to the parents/guardians of the students.
—Pursuant to a resolution passed Feb. 19, 2024, and the confirmation that two students attended Kidron Central Christian School for the entirety of the 2024-25 school year, approved payment in lieu of transportation in the amount of $1,100 to the parents/guardians of the students.
—Approved a resolution of West Holmes Local Schools determining the weight equipment replaced with other equipment as a result of the boosters’ purchase of the new field house equipment is not needed.
—Approved numerous one-year personnel contracts for the 2025-26 school year for band, music, theater and academics.
—Approved the following hirings: Clayton Zimmerly, elementary teacher, effective Aug. 15; Rosanna Miller, elementary teacher, effective Aug. 15; and Kenna Warner, elementary teacher, effective Aug. 15.
—Approved the following retirements: Arlene Waltman, paraprofessional, effective Sept. 30, and Jennifer Fair, bus driver, effective May 31.
—Approved the following resignations: Nicolo Fioritto, assistant principal, effective July 31, and Mya Blochlinger, paraprofessional, effective May 31.
—Approved the following transfers: Kimberly Buchanan, Nashville to Millersburg, effective Aug. 1; Jennifer Hopkins, Lakeville to WHMS, effective Aug. 1; and Darla Miller, WHHS to WHMS, effective Aug. 1.
—Approved the following as a substitute: Sean Hoxworth, custodian, effective June 1.
The next board meeting is scheduled for July 21 at West Holmes High School.
