Jesus Christ, the risen Son
Angela Chapman shares a heartfelt poem on faith and redemption
Thank you for your crimson tree,
That became a cross for my victory.
Jesus, my Lord, you died in my place,
For me to receive your forgiving grace.
The agony bore upon your perfect flesh
Was for me so I’d have a sweet soul refresh.
The penalty for my crime, I could not pay.
It had to come from a perfect Lamb from God’s way.
Upon Christ’s back were many stripes,
Put there by cruel, hateful types.
You took it all without a sound,
To carry my sin upon that mound.
Your love stood above more than I could see.
My Lord, you gave your all for me.
To remain in suffering for so long,
To assure your blood would sing redemption’s song.
The details of the events that day
Were heinous what each would say.
Jesus Christ has come in flesh to save our souls,
Pushed back the veils of fiery coals.
To stand accused of healing love
While doing the will of your Father above.
Remove from me, Lord, the banks of debris.
Wash me to your crystal sea.
Let your living water flow,
As it washes white as snow.
Train me up to be your vessel,
To be hands and feet as I nestle.
To be a part of your kingdom family
Is the best in life one can be.
To praise and serve Emmanuel
Makes my eyes with tears that swell.
The keeper of my soul is fierce.
He allowed a sword in his side to pierce.
To free my soul from agony,
To give life abundantly.
Again, upon the Mount of Olives he will step,
And when he does, there’ll be some depth.
To reign as king and only one,
Jesus Christ, the risen Son.
