Friends of the Loudonville Library celebrate National Friends of Libraries Week

During Oct. 19–25, new members can join the Friends group, support library programs and receive a free bookstore item as part of the nationwide celebration.

The Friends of the Loudonville Public Library are celebrating National Friends of Libraries Week, Oct. 19-25. The Friends group supports library programming and other special requests by holding fundraising book sales throughout the year.

In 2025 the Loudonville Friends contributed $2,200 to the library for programming and supplies for children, teen and adult programs, plus $800 for summer reading program prizes. It sponsors the BookPage, which is available free to library patrons. The group also provides funding for public relations promotions and staff training throughout the year. Equipment purchases in the past year included two LEGO tables for the youth department.

The organization also distributes free books throughout the community to promote reading. Distribution locations include schools, Central Park, Little Free Libraries, senior housing facilities and domestic violence shelters. If an organization or location can make use of free books, contact the Friends group by leaving a message at the library circulation desk.

Support the library by becoming a Friend. Membership forms are available in the Friends bookstore across from the circulation desk. Just complete the form and take it to the circulation desk. Become a member of the Friends of the Loudonville Public Library from Oct. 19-25 and choose one free item from the Friends Bookstore.
