Stark Parks hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 10 at Tam O’Shanter Park in Jackson Township to celebrate a series of major improvements to the popular community space. The park, located at 5055 Hills and Dales Road NW, sits on the former site of the historic Tam O’Shanter Golf Course and offers trails, open green space, and recreational amenities for visitors of all ages.
The renovation project included updates to the clubhouse, featuring new flushable restrooms funded by Visit Canton. Additional enhancements to parking areas and trail surfaces were made possible through support from the Ohio Department of Transportation and Clean Ohio funds.
The event brought together community members, local officials and Stark Parks staff to mark this milestone in the park’s development. As part of the celebration, a tree was planted in honor of former Ohio State Sen. Kirk Schuring, recognizing his longtime contributions to Stark County.
Stark Parks manages 15 parks, four lakes, four historic properties and more than 120 miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails, totaling over 6,800 acres of land. For more information, visit StarkParks.com.
