Queen of Heaven Parish welcomes deacon-in-training Jon Woost
Aurora resident begins final year of formation ahead of May 2026 ordination
At a recent outdoor Mass, Queen of Heaven Pastor David R. Durkee introduced Jon Woost, a deacon-in-training assigned to the parish to assist clergy as part of the final year of his formation. The assignment comes through the Center for Pastoral Leadership in Wickliffe.
As part of his preparation, Woost will provide a brief reflection at the 11 a.m. Mass on the last Sunday of each month until his ordination on May 2, 2026, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Cleveland.
Woost is chief operations officer at Automation Plastics Co. in Aurora. He and his wife, Carrie, live in Wadsworth and are members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Carrie works as quality manager for a naval defense manufacturer in Orrville. The couple has four grown children.
A lifelong Clevelander, Woost is one of seven brothers, three of whom are ordained clergy in the Diocese of Cleveland: Auxiliary Bishop Michael Woost; the Rev. David Woost, pastor of Divine Word Parish in Kirtland; and the Rev. Thomas Woost, serving St. Brendan and St. Richard parishes in North Olmsted. His eldest brother, Philip, is completing a doctorate in theology.
“Yes, we love our Catholic faith!” Woost said.
