Oscar winner Marlee Matlin to headline Stark Library’s author series Nov. 6
The trailblazing actress and Deaf rights advocate will share stories from her award-winning career and her lifelong work promoting accessibility, inclusion and representation.
Academy Award-winning actress and advocate Marlee Matlin will appear at Stark Library’s Speaking of Books Author Series on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 6:30 p.m. at the Palace Theatre.
Matlin made history as the first Deaf performer to win an Academy Award for her role in Children of a Lesser God (1986). She has since built a celebrated career on screen and stage, including performances in CODA, The West Wing and Switched at Birth. Beyond her acting, Matlin is known for her activism, championing accessibility, representation and inclusion for the Deaf community.
At the library event, she will share insights from her groundbreaking career, her journey as an advocate and author, and her perspective on breaking barriers in Hollywood and beyond.
