Vocal Fusion, a premier a cappella ensemble from Northeast Ohio, has been invited to perform at the White House on Dec. 6 as part of the annual White House Holiday Celebration.
The 17-member group will perform two evening sets at 6 and 7 p.m., bringing its signature harmonies and festive arrangements to one of the nation’s most iconic holiday settings.
“We’re so excited and honored to share our vocal style at the White House,” said Brian Kieffer, artistic director of Vocal Fusion. “With our custom arrangements of holiday songs, we trust the First Family’s guests, who are touring the White House holiday décor, will enjoy the added sounds of the season filling the air.”
Known for its tight harmonies, beatboxing and dynamic arrangements by top international arrangers such as Deke Sharon (“Pitch Perfect”), Ben Bram (Pentatonix) and Tehillah Alphonso (SoCal VoCals), Vocal Fusion performs biannual concerts and makes community appearances throughout the year. The invitation marks a milestone recognition of the group’s artistic excellence and contribution to a cappella music.
“Getting this invitation was quite the surprise,” said co-executive director Cory Boosz. “One of our member’s mothers-in-law found the application on Facebook, and before we knew it, the invitation arrived and we promptly accepted.”
“To think that something as simple as a family member sharing a Facebook post could open the door to singing inside the White House is incredible,” added co-executive director Josh Boerner. “It’s such a reminder that sometimes the biggest opportunities start with the smallest moments.”
The nonprofit group is seeking donations to help fund the trip, as the White House does not cover travel, lodging or meal expenses. Contributions can be made at bit.ly/VFWH.
The Dec. 6 performances will include traditional carols, contemporary favorites and three new Vocal Fusion arrangements premiering for the first time. Fans can also hear the group’s full holiday program, Christmas at the Palace, Dec. 12 and 13.
