The drive-through display features hand-built, locally crafted light creations set to festive music.

Merry Lights is a one-of-a-kind drive-through holiday light show located at Cutty’s Sunset Camping Resort, 8050 Edison St. NE in Louisville.

The attraction brings the season to life with a display of a million synchronized LED lights dancing to festive holiday music. It will be open through Dec. 31. Operating hours are Sunday through Thursday from 5:30 to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5:30 to 11 p.m. The last entry is 9:30 p.m. Organizers recommend arriving early on weekends for the best experience; weekday evenings typically have shorter wait times. Tickets can be purchased online at the Cutty’s website under “Christmas Lights,” with a $5 discount available. Tickets are priced per car for up to eight people.

A portion of this year’s proceeds supports Honor Home and Hero’s Ruck, two programs serving local veterans.

Organizers pride themselves on creating magical experiences through hand-built light show displays using local creativity and attention to detail. The displays are not mass-produced, but uniquely designed by a former neon sign builder and constructed from high-quality materials, reflecting a commitment to craftsmanship and the community. Merry Lights has become a favorite tradition for families seeking an affordable and memorable holiday experience close to home.

Merry Lights is produced through a partnership between Jason Abel, owner of Cutty’s Sunset Camping Resort, and Brad Vaughan, a veteran who handles all programming and sequencing of the lighting to the music. Computer processing units are spread throughout the park to achieve the synchronized effect. The music lasts one hour, and it generally takes four to five months to set up the display and complete the programming. The event began in 2020 with locations in Pennsylvania and Marlboro Township; for the last two years, organizers have operated only at Cutty’s.

This year, a portion of the proceeds will benefit Honor Home in Canton and Hero’s Ruck. Honor Home, a program of Axess Family Services, supports veterans and their families with housing assistance and comprehensive services throughout Northeast Ohio. Hero’s Ruck, sponsored by American Legion Post 496 East West Ohio, links pets to veterans by providing service and companion animals to those in need. Proceeds from Merry Lights help Cutty’s continue its mission of honoring those who have served while spreading holiday joy.

Also on the premises is The Cut Café, owned by Jake and Keelan Moore. The café is a small, affordable diner known for fresh-cut fries, pizza and unique pickle fries. Its breakfast stew has also become a customer favorite. The café is closed Monday through Wednesday and open Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Orders can be placed online or by calling 330-917-4090.

Visitors can also stop by The Cut Café on-site to enjoy fresh-cut fries, pizza and other seasonal favorites.

The Merry Lights route winds throughout Cutty’s Sunset Camping Resort, which spans 60 acres of well-kept facilities and recreational areas. The resort features open spaces, green belts and a peaceful, family-friendly atmosphere. During camping season, it employs 30 staff members, including a full-time activities coordinator, offering rest, recreation and a variety of amenities.
