The Marlington High School chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 27 students as new members March 5 in the Marlington High School auditorium.

High School Principal Mike Farrell gave opening remarks, and Marlington NHS President Kaden Tucker provided the introduction.

Several current members of the NHS came forward during the ceremony to explain the NHS emblem and the four principles of the organization while lighting candles associated with each principle. Vice President Huck Gainer explained the NHS emblem. Nathan Dipold spoke about character, Amiiah Sickles addressed scholarship, Andy Hartzler discussed leadership and Aleah Stauffer spoke about service.
The purpose of the NHS is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, encourage development of character, promote leadership and stimulate a desire to render service.
Natalie Price, the current secretary, presented the candidates, and Matthew Frederick explained the NHS colors, flower and motto. Tucker led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Society. Gainer and Tucker then presented the new members, each receiving a yellow rose and certificate.

The new NHS members are Chloe Boy, Meghan Kirby, Mia Vigliotti, Allison Bailey, Emma Boyce, Brincyn Boyce, Jake Bullock, Isabel Christian, Madison Coblentz, Talon Cyders, Garrett Dickerhoof, Justine Doringo, Cameron Evanich, Andrew Frederick, Jace Gates, Chloe Guinter, Landon Hawthorne, Carter Howard, Irelyn Johnson, Natalie Johnson, Ercole Jones, Colton Lane, Chelsea Miller, Cameron Ream, Claire Rice, Jacquelyn Seaburn and Leah Sommers.
The guest speaker was Ryan Gilbey, youth pastor at Alliance Friends Church. Closing remarks were given by Farrell. Special thanks were extended to Jeff Oyster and Chris Locke, the school advisers. The yellow roses were provided by Eric Tanner and the MHS Horticulture Department.

Following the ceremony, attendees were invited to a reception in the cafeteria.
