Lake Township Historical Society to host annual Christmas Dinner and Auction Dec. 5

The fundraiser at Hartville Kitchen will celebrate the society’s new historic home and support preservation, education and community history projects.

Published Modified
The Lake Township Historical Society recently purchased this historic building in Hartville that will serve as its new home, providing space for exhibits, research, meetings, and the preservation of local artifacts.

The Lake Township Historical Society (LTHS) will host its 27th annual Dinner and Silent Auction Fundraiser on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, at the Hartville Kitchen. This year’s theme, “Cornerstone and Hearth,” celebrates an exciting milestone for the organization — the purchase of a historic building in Hartville that will become its new home.

The new facility will allow LTHS to house its entire collection in one location, offer dedicated space for research, meetings, and community gatherings, and provide heated garage space for storing, repairing, and displaying large historical artifacts. Before the public can visit, key renovations must be completed to ensure the building serves the society’s mission for generations to come.

The annual dinner and auction is LTHS’s major fundraiser, supporting projects such as educational programs for local students, Fireside Chats, public programs, preservation of artifacts, maintenance of the Uniontown one-room schoolhouse, and renovation of the new museum and archive space.

Community members are invited to contribute to the auction by donating an item, service, gift certificate, or monetary gift. Donations are tax-deductible and directly support the preservation of Lake Township’s history.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for early bidding, and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $38 and include a choice of roast beef, broiled chicken, baked boneless chicken with cream sauce, or vegetable lasagna, along with mashed potatoes, a vegetable medley, salad, rolls, and assorted pies for dessert. Reservations are due by Monday, Dec. 1, by calling Rosie Vadasz at 330-877-3780 or visiting Eventbrite.

Entertainment for the evening will be provided by Reflections, a group of talented students from Lake High School. Live auction highlights include dinner for eight at Dr. Mark Smith’s Hickory Run Farm, a Pioneer Farm Museum tour and overnight stay, a week in a Florida home near Sarasota, and driver’s education lessons from Myers’ Driving School. Other items include a copy of the Hartville History Book and Ruth Sturgill’s Ground Cherry pie. Silent auction offerings will include local business gift certificates, a Snowflake tree, and the society’s famous cookie trays. Bruce Morckle will return as auctioneer.
