Hartville Village Council prepares to welcome new members
Council thanks outgoing members, approves emergency legislation and sets committee discussions for incoming councilors

Hartville Village Council is preparing to welcome two newly elected members, Matt Kadas and Chris Ramsburg.
At the council’s Dec. 22 meeting, Councilman James Sullivan said he asked the incoming members which committees they wished to serve on. He said the Personnel Committee plans to meet with them to discuss several items.
Mayor Cynthia Billings thanked outgoing council members Kelly Ries and Steven Reisch for their service, noting the meeting was their last.
Council passed two items of legislation by emergency, including a resolution authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with the Stark County Sheriff for police dispatching services and a resolution authorizing the transfer of funds from the general fund to the street construction, maintenance and repair fund and the state highway fund.
Council approved a recommendation from the Safety Committee to purchase seven cameras for the Police Department.
Sullivan said the next Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 6 p.m.
Street Commissioner Anthony Nichols presented his report.
Village Engineer Samer Awadallah also presented his report, which included several change orders to the paving program. Council approved the changes.
Councilman Tim Hayden reported on the status of the village’s strategic plan.
Council members Monica Goodspeed and Thomas Hough were absent.
Billings offered the invocation.
The next regular meeting of Hartville Village Council will be held in person Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 202 W. Maple St. The meeting will also be livestreamed on Facebook and may be viewed later on the village’s Facebook page.
