At the Nov. 10 meeting of Hartville Council, Mayor Cynthia Billings made a change to the invocation, honoring veterans and reminding them they are loved for their service to the nation.
In other business, Billings reminded council that Village Hall would be closed the following day in observance of Veterans Day. She also noted that the Boy Scouts would hold their cake and goodies auction on Nov. 13.
Police Chief Kevin Moore presented his report.
Village Engineer Samer Awadallah presented his report, noting he had provided the new zoning map to the village office.
Council passed several items of legislation by emergency, including an ordinance to establish the fee schedule for building, heating, electrical and zoning permits for the village; a resolution to certify amounts and rates to the Stark County Auditor; a resolution for transfer of funds; an ordinance about the budget; and a resolution for special assessments.
Councilman Tim Hayden said he had received questions from residents about various matters. Billings said residents can call the office with questions.
The Police Department will hold its annual Fill a Cruiser event on Saturday, Nov. 22, to provide Thanksgiving meals for families in need. Extra donations will be given to Lake Township FISH. The police cruiser will begin at 9 a.m. at Giant Eagle, then move to Marc’s at 10:45 a.m. and conclude at Aldi at 12:30 p.m. The cruiser will be parked in front of each store while donations are collected. The department thanked each store for its generous community support.
Council members James Sullivan and Kelly Ries were absent.
The next regular meeting of Hartville Village Council will be held in person on Monday, Nov. 24, at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 202 W. Maple St. The meeting will also be live-streamed on Facebook and can be viewed later on the Videos page of the village’s Facebook page at facebook.com/VillageofHartville.
