Hartville Council reviews police equipment, expresses gratitude to fire department
Council discusses taser and camera upgrades, adopts service contracts and receives community thanks during Oct. 27 meeting.

At the Oct. 27 meeting of Hartville Village Council, Council member Monica Goodspeed thanked the Fire Department for its response to a recent house fire in her neighborhood.
In other business, Councilman Tim Hayden asked about tasers for the Police Department. Police Chief Kevin Moore shared information and distributed printed materials, and the Safety Committee scheduled a meeting to discuss tasers and cameras.
Council heard third readings and adopted several pieces of legislation, including resolutions authorizing the mayor to enter into agreements with TAC Computer Services; Attorney Joyce Lamb to serve as Mayor’s Court magistrate; and Carol Brown for cleaning services at both Village Hall and the police facility. The first two agreements cover the period Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2026.
Street Commissioner Anthony Nichols reported that larger “No Right Turn on Red” signs will be installed at the downtown square and other intersections.
Village Engineer Samer Awadallah also presented his report.
A representative of the Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities addressed council, encouraging voters to support ballot Issue 1. Jeff Miller, a candidate for Lake Township trustee, thanked all candidates running for office and wished them luck.
Mayor Billings offered the invocation. Following the business meeting, council recessed into executive session for a personnel matter. No action was taken.
The next regular meeting of Hartville Village Council will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at Village Hall, 202 W. Maple St. The meeting will also be live-streamed on Facebook and available for viewing later on the village’s Facebook videos page.
