Hartville council backs chamber dinner table
Mayor Billings announces award for Kathy Butcher at Feb. 24 event.
Hartville Village Council will sponsor a table at the Lake Township Chamber of Commerce annual dinner on Feb. 24. At the Feb. 9 council meeting, Mayor Cynthia Billings said Kathy Butcher, who has organized the annual “Evening in the Village” event for many years, will receive an award for that work. All council members present voted in favor of sponsoring the table.
In other business, following Councilman James Sullivan’s report on the Planning Commission meeting, council agreed to vote on accepting its recommendations after a public hearing preceding the March 23 council meeting. The recommendations were to approve zoning changes on three outlots in the Industrial Park and a general plan review for a business property.
Council passed two items of legislation by emergency: an ordinance adopting the Ohio Basic Code 2026 edition as the code of ordinances for the village, and a resolution authorizing the police chief to offer terms of employment to a lateral candidate for employment as a police officer. Village Solicitor Eric Williams was absent, so Billings read the items.
Billings reminded council that Village Hall will be closed Feb. 16 in observance of Presidents Day. A special council meeting was scheduled that morning to direct the engineer to advertise the 2026 paving program.
Police Chief Kevin Moore presented his report.
Village Engineer Samer Awadallah presented his report.
Councilman Tim Hayden reported on the status of the strategic plan.
Councilmen Tom Hough and Chris Ramsburg were absent.
Billings offered the invocation.
The next regular meeting of Hartville Village Council will be held Monday, Feb. 23, at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 202 W. Maple St. The meeting also will be livestreamed on Facebook and may be viewed on the village’s Facebook page.
