Hartville council approves zoning changes
Industrial reclassifications among key actions at March meeting
Hartville Village Council approved three zoning changes and addressed appointments, infrastructure projects and other village business at its March 3 meeting.

At its March 23 meeting, Hartville Village Council approved three zoning changes recommended by the Planning Commission.
The recommendations were presented during a public hearing prior to the regular meeting. Two changes involved Outlots 28 and 336, which were rezoned from Light Industrial (M-1) to General Industrial (M-2). A third change rezoned Outlot 30 from Agricultural (A-1) to General Industrial (M-2). Council approved all three unanimously.
The Planning Commission will meet April 6 to review plans for storage and rental units at 675 Wales Drive.
In other business, Councilman James Sullivan said residents participating in aggregation programs should have received opt-out notices. There is no charge to opt out.
Council appointed Toni Good to fill a vacancy on the Board of Public Affairs, which oversees the wastewater treatment plant. Mayor Cynthia Billings requested the appointment to ensure a full board as plant manager Jim Baxter prepares to retire April 30.
Street Commissioner Anthony Nichols presented his report.
A representative from CT Consultants, filling in for Village Engineer Samer Awadallah, presented an engineering report. Council approved hiring Northstar Asphalt for the paving program.
Council approved a resolution on third reading authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with Varney, Fink & Associates to serve as village fiscal officer. Council also passed an emergency resolution related to Ohio Department of Transportation resurfacing projects on state Route 619 and state Route 43.
Councilman Tim Hayden reported on progress of the village’s strategic plan and ongoing work with Lake Local Schools and local businesses to develop an internship program for students.

The next Hartville Village Council meeting will be held April 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 202 W. Maple St., and will be livestreamed on Facebook.
