Hartville council appoints Monica Goodspeed to fill vacancy
Council also approves replat request, hears reports, sets upcoming events
Hartville Village Council is back to full membership. Following an executive session after its Sept. 8 meeting, Council appointed Monica Goodspeed to take the seat recently vacated by Frank Gant, who resigned.
In other business, Council voted to accept the Planning Commission’s recommendation to approve a request for a replat of a 6.92-acre property in the 300 block of Crestmont Ave., owned by Hartville Homes Foundation.
Mayor Cynthia Billings welcomed 11 members of Scout Troop 45, who attended as part of the requirements for their Citizenship in the Community merit badge. Each Scout introduced himself.
Chris Ramsburg invited Council to a first responders appreciation barbecue on Oct. 3. Mayor Billings reported that 720 Market in the Ville will take place on Oct. 4.
After reporting she had received an email from a resident of Danbury Glen asking about speed limit signs on one of the roads, Mayor Billings asked Street Commissioner Anthony Nichols to comment. He said only part of the road is in the village and advised contacting Stark County about the other part so a speed study can be conducted.
Mayor Billings also reported a communication from a resident who has been paying to have stray feral cats spayed or neutered but can no longer afford to do so. She asked Council to consider whether the village can address the issue at a future meeting.
Council passed, by emergency, a resolution to convert advances to the storm sewer OPWC fund from the general fund. Council also heard the first reading of an ordinance to establish truck routes in the village.
Police Chief Kevin Moore presented his report.
Village Engineer Samer Awadallah presented his report. Council voted to allow him to prepare a request for a state grant.
Councilman Tim Hayden reported on the status of the strategic plan.
Mayor Billings offered the invocation.
The next regular meeting of Hartville Village Council will be held in person Monday, Sept. 22, at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 202 W. Maple St. The meeting will also be livestreamed on Facebook.
