Woodsfield dedicated to community outreach and service

Woodsfield Building and Loan was established in 1887. The name evolved over time and became the Woodsfield Savings Bank. You may recognize them as the newest bank to join the Cadiz community but they have locations in Woodsfield and Barnesville as well.

The Cadiz branch had a soft opening the last two weeks of December, their official opening on Jan. 2, and a grand opening on Jan. 24.

As the building was coming together last fall, there were several problems that occurred. Marketing Officer Brittany Harris shared with the News-Herald how the bank overcame these issues. “As with any new construction project, problematic issues are always a possibility. We were a few months past our projected open date due to multiple construction factors beyond our control. It was such a happy relief when we were able to open our doors to the Harrison County community,” she said.

There are currently five employees at the Cadiz branch and Harris shared that each one of them is dedicated to making Woodsfield a community-centered place to be for all residents of Harrison County and beyond.

“We pride ourselves on having the product and services that the big banks offer without compromising our local, hometown values,” Harris said. “Because of our local decision making, we are able to view a loan applicant’s situation on a more personal level rather than just credit scores and financial ratios. Every customer’s situation is different and our model allows us to take it into consideration. We know our customers and enjoy getting to know the new faces that walk through our doors.”

She said the bank offers a variety of unique products and services that are flexible to meet the needs of any individual, family, or business. “From small business tools to a friendly face that helps you through your financial journey, to budgeting and personalized resources available at your fingertips, the unique quality of our products is unmatched.”

Harris described the community reaction to the bank as “overwhelmingly positive” and she shared that, “We are reminded daily of the incredible people that live in Harrison County. As always, we look forward to every face that walks through our doors.”

This reaction has been well-deserved as Woodsfield began supporting the community more than a year before they broke ground. “A top priority for Woodsfield Savings Bank is our community involvement. If you don’t see one of our employees volunteering or attending a community event, you can almost guarantee we have sponsored or assisted in some other way. The community is why we exist. We do our best to be a part of as many events that benefit the local community as possible. We have found that helping out little things here and there such as a 5K, a sports dinner, or a golf scramble really begins to add up when you are looking at how it all brings positive things to our community.”
