Match play bowling continues with strong turnout at JR Lanes

The seventh week of match play drew 38 participants, with 32 making the cut for head-to-head competition. Four bowlers finished as the night’s top performers.
Catching up on the fifth week of match play, 17 participants competed and all advanced after the two-game qualifying series. Nathan Norris earned the top qualifying spot with a 527 series, which included a complimentary entry into the next week’s match play.
In the semifinals, Norris edged Nate Bowersock 212-210. Matt Hall defeated Justin Utter 222-186. Norris won the final over Hall 236-194.
Back Country Construction owner Glenn Cox sponsored the night. Payouts were $120 for first place, $60 for second place and $30 each for third and fourth.
In the sixth week of head-to-head match play, 22 bowlers competed and all advanced. Norris again earned the top qualifying spot with a 514 series and received a complimentary entry into the next week’s match play.
In the semifinals, Jeff Tennant defeated Bill Hilliker 226-201 and Mike Hamersley beat Brady Tucker 201-144. Tennant won the final over Hamersley 248-202.
Don Bethel of Cadiz Insurance Agency sponsored the night. Payouts were $120 for first place, $60 for second place and $30 each for third and fourth.
In the seventh week, Mike Emerick led qualifying with a 494 series to earn a complimentary entry into the next week’s match play.
In the semifinals, Norris defeated Bryan Giannangeli 246-183 and Hamersley beat Alberto Dunlap 186-170. Norris won the final over Hamersley 229-136.
Back Country Construction LLC, owned by Cox, sponsored the night. Payouts were $300 for first place, $150 for second place and $75 each for third and fourth. For more information, call 740-942-8838.
“The competition is set to resume next Friday at 9 p.m., with the ultimate goal of qualifying for the finals in Week 17,” organizer Raylynn Runevich said. “Participants who bowl at least seven weeks without securing a win in the previous 15 weeks will qualify for the nonchampions week in Week 16.”
JR Lanes thanked participants and supporters and invited the community to attend next week.
